Volume 4, Number 2 Special Issue: The New Typography Public spaces explode with typography. Type is scrawled, printed, built into three dimensions. It covers storefronts, tells you where to drive, lets you know about next week's yard sale. Type is ubiquitous in everyday public spaces. Yet, in private spaces, everyday typography rarely intersects with personal interiors - the fixture in your kitchen or the table in your living room. This essay discusses the typography of Tune Tables where wayfinding arrows, graffiti and advertising meet furniture design. Tune Tables mix typography with furniture, art with advertising, mass production with customization. Essay and design by Elevator. Edited by Carey Jewitt, Theo van Leeuwen, Teal Triggs.
